Time for indoor bowls

With the outdoor green now closed until next April, bowlers at Saffron Walden Town are looking forward to the short mat season which begins on Wednesday, 26th September. Short mat bowls is played in the clubhouse and is an enjoyable, skilful version of the outdoor game. Open to all playing and social members, the sessions begin at 7.00pm - come along and enjoy a friendly, sociable evening. Many bowlers from Saffron Walden are also members of Turpin's Indoor Bowling Club, based behind the Lord Butler Leisure Centre in Peaslands Road, and represent the outdoor club in a winter evening league. Turpin's are holding Open Days this month and the photo shows Cliff advising the Town Mayor on his delivery observed by Jim, Alan and Chris.
